Just a boring question but an interesting one for some!

What operating system do you use and what computer do you have?

I was looking through the web stats today, I never do, but I saw who had used the forum today and what systems they used:

Windows XP - 425 pages
Linux - 40 pages (think it was all me!!!)
Unknown - 17
Windows 2000 - 17
Windows Vista - 4
Windows NT - 1

I use OSX Leopard, tried linux before, stuck it out for 3 months but it just doesn't have the application coverage that I need.

I think linux is great for dying computers! I had a Mac but the mother board died, I had XP on my laptop which died but was brought back to life by ubuntu (the CPU couldn't take much more) now I have another Windows computer with service pack 2 or whatever it is which is going to die soon!

Not having much luck!

When I go back to the UK at Xmas, I am going to the Mac shop in Southampton and get a decent Mac. Still don't know whether to go for the Mac book pro or just an iMac?

MAC OSX (Tiger and Leopard) all the way fellas... Don't forget we can now run those windows apps and those linux apps too!!!

For the money, you can get yourself a fantastic iMac... Unless you happen to be working in various locations then I would stick with an iMac.. Wouldn't mind a MacBook Pro for my travels.. All 10 miles of them...

Like the look of Linux, but lack of support for Monitor put me off.. Would still use and indeed the schools here use it throughout the IT depts.

I use a 15" macbook pro, and plug it into a proper keyboard/mouse and my 24" dell widescreen monitor when im working at the desk.

Best of both worlds that way
