Default What html editor do you use?

Just a nosy question to ask you guys, what html editor do you use when producing or editing a site?

I use a mixture between html kit, dreamweaver and also NVU which I can use on Ubuntu (Linux).

Would like to know as I can get more resources from you and I can post these for others that don't have access to editors and for those with would like to play with other editors.

I use TextMate on OSX - When I used XP the editor used to depend on the language I was using for the website, so it would usually be either Visual Studio .NET or PHPEdit.

Dreamweaver, BBEdit

Also for making changes on the fly there is a great little app called "Coda"

It also incorporates Transmit FTP software into it..

Good company Panic, I have transmit - Coda looks real nice, but I can't give up TextMate! There's a great little OSX app for style sheets somewhere too, was meaning to get that one.

Thought a few other apps could do with a mention.

I used to use HTMLkit a lot but was never too fond of the interface and so turn to Notepad++ when on Windows now.

On the Mac I use Textwrangler which is another freebie. I saw CSSEdit mentioned, which I'd recommend and on Windows SimpleCSS offers a lot of CSSEdit's functionality, though it doesn't quite fit in with my workflow.

I do most of my development in Eclipse now, though it's an utter tosser to get configured for PHP with endless dependencies needing to be installed and would only recommend it to the patient, though I think Zend may offer an all in one package on their site which might save all the mucking around.

It offers a good environment, though can be a little prone to issues over networks. Netbeans offers a strong alternative and has much better CSS support, though I've never been able to get that working over a LAN. If you're only using one machine, Netbeans is worth a look and straightforward to install on OS X and Windows, though I favour Eclipse despite its hassles.

Just a quick addition to my last post. I've now tried the all-in-one PDT download of Eclipse from Zend and it didn't need any configuration of plug-ins - just double-click and 'go go gadget arms'.

It also seems more robust over the LAN, though I updated wi-fi drivers at the same time so that may have been part of it.

Also I've just noticed that SimpleCSS is available for OS X now. Anyone looking for a free editor and doesn't need to edit the code directly may like this.

Just had a quick look at the site, going to down load it now for the mac and have a play today!

Bit quiet at the moment so plenty of time to mess about with new gadgets!

Thanks Ian, always on the lookout for new open source programs on the mac that I haven't seen or used before to make life easier and also more interesting, sometimes you get bored of using the same apps all the time!

I guess I am just a little old school but I still do most of my editing in Notepad from scratch. And upload through my FTP server
