• The small town of Santomera is located just inside the eastern border of the Murcia province bordering the Valencia community, with a population of roughly 14,000 people - Santomera is a quiet village situated in a great location to travel to both Alicante and Murcia, whether it be for work, leisure or travel.

• Even though Santomera is relatively small, there are numerous schools for children that reside in the town to attend, in fact the area has a great mixture of colleges, private schools, state schools and a couple of boarding schools! There are plenty of amenities to service the area, but being the size that it is Santomera is predominately Spanish as are all the services in the town, so learning Spanish is a must.
• If you are going to be commuting backwards and forwards from the UK to Spain, Santomera is not far from the two main areas in the area, roughly 50km away from the San Javier airport in Murcia and 70km from Alicantes airport. Albacete is a bit more of a journey away - roughly 170km!

• Being located where it is just inside the Murcia region, Santomera enjoys great weather for most of the year. As it is in the most of Spain, winters aren't that great but better than England! Temperatures in the region hit the high end of Spain's average with temperatures soaring into the 40's on many occasions, rain fall is very low all year round, even though the province is in desperate need as droughts have plagued the Murcia and Valencia regions for years.
• In 1836 the townof Santomera was officially founded with its own Town Hall. Dominican Fathers introduced the devotion to the Virgin of the Rosary “virgin del Rosario“ and she in turn was devotedto the parish church which was built at the end of that century. These days the inhabitants of Santomera are employed in mainly the agriculture and cattle breeding. When you visit Santomera, you will be able to see the 19th century parish church, and lots of other beautiful buildings.

• Santomera has a festival that starts the 1st of October till the 15th of October. The Moors and Christians festival here has been declared one of the best Regional Tourist Interests and will delight visitors with its beautiful parades and huertanos festival. The Rosary festival, which takes place on the 7th of October has a minstrel evening and a flamenco festival. There are various known Spanish artists performing in the weekend evenings and there is a great festival sphere that delights everyone during the time of the fests.
• Property in Santomera is on the rise as it is in many areas throughout Spain, but this is simply down to demand as the town has slowly grown over the years. Not only that but lots of foreigners from the UK and Ireland have fallen in love with the area and either purchased a holiday home here or moved to Santomera on a permanent basis. The house prices are under the national average, there are not many resale properties available on the market accept on the outskirts of Santomera in rural country locations, but again there is still not as many as you would see on the costas.
• Due to the slow expansion Santomera does have some high quality new developments that are springing up at very competitive prices.
