• The history of Cullar dates back to pre-historic times, realised by the many archaeological remains found over the years. One of the most important being the Idolo de Malagón an ivory carved figure thought to have come from the Bronze age.
• There's a renaissance church in the centre of the town (Nuestra Señora de la Anunción) which has leant it's architecture to the town plaza and town hall (Casa Conistorial) which is close to the church.The best idea is to park up and take a stroll through the narrow streets and of course sample some of the local tapas bars.
• Situated in the North East of the province at approximately 890 metres above sea level the municipality covers just over 400 Km2 and has nearly 6,000 inhabitants. In recent years Cúllar has changed considerably and although the industry is primarily agriculture with new money coming into the area (by means of foreigners buying property) the town has been re-generated with new shops, bars and housing developments.
• Situated within minutes of the motorway (A92N) Cúllar has become popular with tourists and we have seen an increase in clients looking for holiday homes in the town. Although it looks a little 'sleepy' as you drive through you'd be amazed what Cúllar has to offer from hostels to the pleasant Hotel Lunamar, a huge quantity of bars and plenty of shops to wander around.
• There are many motorbike events to enjoy if you're an ethusiast, from trials to moto cross, the trials course is of an international standard and is challenging to say the least. It's a really good day out but wear sensible footwear and clothes that you can easily wash the huge clouds of dust from.
Fiesta's
• Last weekend in April Moros y Christianos (Moors & Christians) an amazing event attracting people from all over spain if not Europe.
• At the end of August there's a fiesta in celebration of San Augustin.
• Each Sunday throughout October the town celebrates El Rosario de la Aurora.
