• Part of the municipality of Mijas, Calahonda is situated about halfway
between Fuengirola and Marbella and only 33 kilometres from Malaga airport. Historically, Calahonda developed as a result of a business union between the Van Dulken family who owned most of the land, and the Orbaneja family of builders and developers. Originally, the area was largely given over to private villas on good sized plots. In recent years Calahonda has grown increasingly popular and nowadays includes a number of apartment developments. Today there are many modern, new developments with the high quality finishes owners expect when buying a new dream home.

• The highly developed infrastructure with its various commercial centres such as El Zoco and Los Cipreses at either end of the Avenida de Espana (the principal road through Calahonda) along with the highly developed centre for bars, and restaurant know locally as 'The Strip', has proved a winning combination with both residents and holidaymakers alike. Food wise, all tastes are provided for - from the popular Spanish tapas bar known as El Rincon de Cristobal, to full Italian, Indian, Swiss, and Chinese restaurants. Calahonda is truly cosmopolitan in tastes and outlook.
• There are of course, many other small bars and restaurants dotted about amongst the developments, all providing the ideal place for a midday snack, an evening meal or maybe just a coffee as you watch the world go by.
• We have the Costa del Sol Tennis Club with its many tennis courts, squash courts and fully equipped gym - a popular meeting place for the sports person. Across the road from the tennis club is the La Siesta Golf Club with its 9 hole golf course - ideal for improving your short game. La Siesta Golf Club has an excellent clubhouse as well as bar, restaurant facilities.
• For families with children, The Calahonda International College is also in this same area providing English education for children from 2 to 18 years old.

• Being in the microclimate of the Costa Del Sol, we enjoy the famous hot summers and pleasant, warm winters which allows our Scandinavian and other northern European friends to enjoy their stay here in the winter to escape the dark and very cold winters of their own countries.
• Positioned halfway between Marbella and Fuengirola means that for the golf player, there more than a dozen golf courses within a 10 minute drive - all with different degrees of difficulty to test beginners and low handicap players alike.
• The beaches in and around Calahonda are, as you would expect, sandy and well cared for. The popular chiringuito beach restaurants are there to provide food and drink all day, and usually well into the evening as well.

• There are also opportunities for all forms of water sports for those who don't want to lie out in the sun.
• With Marbella 20 minutes one way and Fuengirola 20 minutes in the other direction, our residents and holiday makers alike can enjoy some of the culture and history of Spain as well as the hustle and bustle of everyday life. During the afternoon siesta however, the pace eases off just a touch to allow you to remember why you came here in the first place.
