Default Microsoft look to buyout Yahoo! your opinion?

With the news that Mr. Bill gates and his empire at Microsoft bidding to buyout Yahoo! with the intent to compete with the likes of Google estimated to be a deal worth 44.6 billion US dollars in a mixture of stocks and cash - what do you think about this news?

Do you think that buying out Yahoo! will really help in the quest to knock Google off its perch? Or will it all end before its began?

Personally myself (because of what I do) I would like to see Yahoo! to reject the offer and keep on doing the work it is already doing, Microsoft already have a search engine which in my opinion they have neglected and has slowly faded away well behind the likes of Yahoo! - thats why they are trying to buy them out.

Neither Yahoo! or MSN can compete with Google and I don´t think that will change with the news of a merger between the two, Google mastered the art of search, took it forward and is in a class of it´s own, with their tactics and purchasing of other popular sites such as Facebook and Blogger over the years - their marketing has made them what they are now.

So what do you think?

Do you think Yahoo! should cut their losses and sell up admitting defeat?

Do you think that the combined power of MSN and Yahoo! can challenge the mighty Google for search?

Will the founder of search end up in the claws of Bill Gates?

Default MSN, Yahoo takeover

I agree 100% with Richie.

If you have 3 horses in a race there is a chance that they will try. If there is just two horses it is usually a "walk-over" until the last moment.

Google at least have two main competitors and several smaller ones that don't count for much.
Consequently, Google has to keep running to stay ahead.

Another point is that Google is where it is because it has worked at it. I know that they have bought up lots of other companies by these were not search engines.
I don't think that Microsoft should be allowed to buy Yahoo.
