Default ARTICLE - Formula 1 comes to Valencia

Valencia is waiting to become the motoring focus of the world when over 500 million spectators will witness the first European Formula 1 Grand Prix around its streets and harbour on the Valencia Street Circuit, to be held between the 22nd and 24th of August, 2008.
This is a new event in the Formula 1 calendar, with Valencia offering the amazing backdrop of its Port Americas Cup, which was purposely designed to host the 32nd Americas cup in 2007, as the setting for this, also purposely designed, urban circuit.

Thanks to the experience gained through the hosting of important sporting events like the Americas Cup, Moto GP World Championship, World Superbike Championship and the IAFF World Indoor Athletics Championship, Valencia is well prepared to offer a spectacular Grand Prix.

Valencia is able to offer visitors more than just the European Grand Prix, with the charm and tradition of the “old quarter” of the City, the spectacular architecture of the City of Arts and Sciences, Malvarrosa beach with its palm tree lined promenade of restaurants, bars and clubs, the Mediterranean cuisine, and a huge nightlife scene with open-air discos and terraces open until the early hours of the morning.
"The agreement is for the next seven years, which will be the first of 50 years of Formula 1 in Valencia" were the words used by Bernie Ecclestone, Formula One Management CEO, when he sealed the agreement for the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe to be held in the city of Valencia in August 2008.

Valencia is considered the ideal city for holding such big events due to the openness of the city and excellent communications by land, sea and air and will now have a spectacular modern street circuit.

Thanks for that ToniW, there are probably a lot of people in Moraira who would like to come to watch. Perhaps when we get nearer the time you will advise the best vantage points and tell us how to get in and out of the city.

Default Formula I in Valencia. August 2008

The best way would probably be to get the train from Gandia.
I'm looking forward to that.
Perhaps ToniW and Homefinder will finally meet
There's a thing ToniW. Perhaps you could set up a venue for SREF and CBF members and we'll all meet up for the first time - mind boggling

its all very exciting, i am driving on the newly laid track every day to get to work and back! it brings out a few "vrooom vrooms" everytime!" Iīm not sure how they are going to work it, whether you can only see if you buy a ticket or if there will be vantage points for the general public. Iīve heard people are renting out there balconies for upto 12,000€, what a shame i am the other end of the beach!! I will keep you informed of progress right here.
With the amount of people expected to be in the city that weekend, i canīt imagine it being a good time to try and meet up a group of people who donīt know what the others look like, but i suppose it would be fun trying!

Valencia Street Circuit will be tested with F-3 and GT races in July..
The Valencia Street Circuit will hold different races 26 and 27 of July, before the celebration of the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe 22, 23 and 24 of august 2008. These events will be the Spanish Championship of Formula 3, the International GT Open and the Regional Championship, which will guarantee that the Valencia Street Circuit be in perfect conditions to carry out the Gran Prix in August.

Around 20.000 people will attend these events, approximately. Valmor Sports will sell the tickets from July 1 through Servientrada Bancaja and El Corte Inglés with a price around 20 and 60 euros.

Default Valencia Property Values go "Vroom, Vroom"!

Thanks for the info ToniW.

Could you tell everyone where the best positions are, please!

The Formula 1 race in August seems expensive €195 - €420 for the 3 days. Have I got that right? Still, what an experience. I wish that I could afford it!
I can understand now how they are charging big money for apartments with balconies overlooking the circuit. It is not only the cars that will be going "Vroom, vroom" - property prices will be revving up as well.

The July races are better priced but anyone who wants to go needs to think about it now. Can ToniW tell us how to buy tickets without going to the City? Can they be purchased online?
Those from the Forum who want to go should get together so that we are all in the same place. Getting there is easy (I thnk). Drive to Gandia, park and get the train into the City.
We'll all be meeting each other in the flesh!

Buy tickets here for the Spanish Championship of Formula 3, the International GT Open and the Regional Championship. Tickets on sale from July 1st apparently.
As for the best place, I would imagine anywhere overlooking the harbour, on the right hand (southern) side so you are looking back at the harbour and beach. There is talk about making a kind of "Formula 1 Village" a bit like they had for the Americas Cup, this will be an area where the public can see exhibitions and publicity tents (I would imagine) - more news on this as it comes.
I think the train is definately going to be your best option for entering the City, this isnīt the big worry for me, getting out and to work is what I am worried about! (well not overly! )

its a service offered by Bancaja called servientrada so if you go to the Bancaja website and find the link, maybe it doesnīt allow you to link straight there as it is a banking page!
