| Euro 2008 | Spain 4 - 2 Italy (After Penalties)
I bet ToniGirl was tucked up in the land of nod - shame you missed it, Toni
Now that you are up and about you can read about it here - BBC SPORT | Football | Euro 2008 | Spain 0-0 Italy (4-2 pens)
Forget about the "dour" bit, it was one of the most exciting games so far.
It is now 00:45 and I just got back from Teulada. What can I say except "Que Maravilla"?
I would love to have heard what Juan Carlos II said on TV after visiting the players dressing room but, after the Fabregas goal, there was just too much noise, al lot of the spectators rand out into the street to sound their car horns.
Although I love her to death, I cannot imagine the Queen of England high five-ing with the D of E, embracing officials, ad libbing for the TV - even if security permitted. ĄViva Espaņa! Homefinder |

I saw it all and shared it with all the locals in my bar!!! no chance of sleeping between the car horns, shouting and fireworks! and the Valencia duo are shining too (alhtough I donīt think either of them will be Valencia players next season!) Villa - maravilla! and Hi Ho Silva!! (and of course my boy Cesc from the gooners!)
have you heard the fact about how in the last 3 big tournaments they have lost on penalty shoot outs on the exact same dates! doo doo doo, but now its been broken!! so an omen to take them all the way I reckon! If they party like that for the quarters canīt wait til the win the whole thing! ĄViva Espaņa! from me too!

| Euro 2008 | Spain in the Final?
Hey listen, you have to realise that I am the worlds worst leg-puller sometimes.
I knew that you had to be watching it.
Aren't the Spanish absolutely nuts about football? All those car-horns going off!
Can they pull it off? Beating Russia on Thursday won't be easy and then they have to face Germany in the final - That's how I see it.
All the same I would like to see it happen.

come on spain!
having beaten the Rusos in the first game they have got to be favourites, BUT!!!
this has to be their best chance ever of reaching the finals, a good group, a great win over Italy now the semis against a team they have already stuffed!?! lets hope they donīt get all "english" on us and flop!
Canīt wait!! I will be there in the local bar full to brimming, petados at the ready!
My Spanish flat mate hasnīt got much interest in footy but she loves to watch the people and their reactions, and of course the atmosphere!

Spain may have won the first game but just watch out - all I need to say is "Andrei Arshavin".
He didn't play in their first game against Spain, this guy is a real talent and is the engine and playmaker for Russia, he pulls the strings and will do some damage tonight for sure.
Russia played Holland at their own game and won (Holland were my favourites to win), Spain play boring football - never feeding the two main players in their squad the mighty Torres and David Villa. They might have a great possession and pass rate - but everything is played at the back with Spain.
Even though I want Spain to win, I am tipping Russia to beat them. |

i must admit i though Holland were looking pretty sharp!
Germany are a team who always seem to get better as the tournament goes on alhtough they were tested last night.
Spain donīt seem to be able to work as a whole team, they have moments of flair between a couple of great players, but no consistancy. We just have to hope a few of those moments end in goals like in the opener!
all will soon be known....

Talk about having to eat my words
Spain deserved the win completely out played Russia, the Russia that we have seen in the past couple of games simply didn't turn up.
Still feel sick to the bone that England never made it to the Euros - probably a bit or a lot of jealously that we can't be there instead, but well done Spain.
Won't stay maybe next time, because we always get let down. |

| Euro 2008: Spain 3 - 0 Russia
I rushed down from Teulada but Richie beat me to it. I was going to say - Err . . . what was that you guys were saying? A good result. Not only did they win but it was 3 b.... 0.
If it is any consolation to you Richie, I commented to the guys in Teulada that Spain has two players in the team who play for English clubs. they said "You're wrong, it's four of them".

Torres, Alonso, Reina, Arbeloa (all Liverpool) and Fabregas (Arsenal) - I make it five.
