Default Spanish Urban Corruption | Benitachell Arrests
Benitachell Town Hall Officials Arrested for Alleged Urban Corruption
The Mayor and Deputy-Mayor of Benitachell were arrested last week under suspicion of involvement in urban corruption.
According to the local Spanish and English press, the Guardia Civil arrested the pair, Juan Cardona Bolufer and Hannelore Rheindorf, both members of the Democratic Independent Party of Benitachell (PIDEB).
The arrests were made in connection with an incident whereby they are alleged to have received 50,000 euros from a resident of Benitachell in exchange for a land re-classified.
Also arrested was a German lawyer.
All three were taken to different police stations, held overnight, interviewed by a Denia judge and released on bail.
