Just suppose Spain made a move like that and scrapped the 6% transfer tax on properties up to (say) 150,000 Euros.
That could generate 100,000 sales during the next 12 months and would be a good start to easing the crisis.
Argueably, if the average sale was 100,000 Euros, it would cost the country 600 million in lost revenue. However, the way things are going, they won't get the 600 million anyway - what have they got to lose?
Noooooo! - They would never do it.
Hangonaminute! - It must be worth a try.
