Best area in Spain? Good question - that has to be a toss up between Granada and northern Murcia.

We do a lot in the north of the region of Granada and we are also exploring places inside Jaen and Cordoba which have some really beautiful villages, one place that is doing quite well with us at the moment is Alcaudete which is located just inside the Jaen border - from there you can go to Jaen in 35 mins, Cordoba in 35 mins and Granada in about 45 mins.

It is a perfect location for those that will not be working or working from home and want to spend the weekends venturing out to different villages and site seeing.

Another place that I quite like is Calasparra, there are hundreds of places I like and for all different reasons, I wouldn't want to say just one place.

Default Best Area in Spain

Like somebody else mentioned - it depends on what 'best' means. I love some of the mountain scenery around the Costa del Sol and it looks great for holiday makers but I love living in the region of Murcia because it is relatively un-commercialised and the people are very down-to-earth. I agree with the poster before me - inland Murcia around Calasparra and Caravaca is beautiful and I love Cartagena for its sense of history. I've only driven through Granada but I want to go and visit, I've heard many good things about it.

What does it mean to you?

Anything from your preferred area, where you like to visit the most, where you would like to live, the best place for someone to buy?

You are right best area can mean anything and different things to different people but there must be some where in Spain that you have visited that gives you the WOW factor!

Default Costa Blanca North - the best area in Spain?

The Forum voted Costa Blanca North as the best area in Spain.

Another survey also voted the area first, with the Balearic Islands and Costa blanca South second and third respectively.

The Tour Operators and Real Estate Agents Survey.

Looks like that's it - we made up or minds!

Really though, I only live in Moraira because I have business here.
My personal choice would be anywhere AWAY from the coast and TOURISTS.
I have a little townhouse in Riba Roja, the "back of beyond" of Tarragona, on the mighty EBRO river. A tiny town with wonderful vecinos who struggle to talk to me in Castellano. If I had any sense I would sell up here, move there and live on my wits (?) Thinking about it, if I relied on my wits, I would probably be hungry - but then I could live on the fish I catch, pack up smoking, get rid of the stress, learn Catalan - and live to be 100.
So my personal choice would be anywhere inland that is QUIET and near a river or lake.

I now reside near Barcelona not that far away from Tarragona. Gone are the days I'd stay weekends at a small family hotel while fshing the lower lake at Caspe - what a place to live!

Valencia has changed no end in recent years - have never lived there but it seems a nice enough place to be. True that further down the coast you'll find little "Englands", butt hatīs not so bad - I could do with a fish & chips joint near here.

Everywhere is changing, not sure if it is for the best or just inevitable.
I love the costa tropical but it is far too quiet for some, not smart or flash, just beautiful..

Emma - very happy living in Spain
