SREF hacked and restored! - Spanish Real Estate forum - Spanish property

Many of you may have noticed that the forum has been down for a couple of days due to being hacked!

A huge thanks must go to Dave Howard at Alphashare that some how managed to find the database and restore it (I didn´t have a backup! because of the last problem that we had with the forum and the server move!).

Turkish hackers hacked the server through another website that was on the same server - that was running a Joomla CMS, I have never been a fan of them and quite justified now.

Thought we had gone for good!

So we continue as usual

P.S - adverts that are not appearing on the sidenav will soon be back up and running tomorrow as they could not be retrieved.

My sincerest and heartfelt congratulations to Richie on restoring the Forum. When I heard about the problem I was quite sad as the forum had become an important part of my life that I was going to miss.

When the forum first went down I contacted him and he was so p..... off with the thought of starting over that he was going to chuck it all in. I don't suppose he really meant that but that's how he was feeling. Fortunately it was recoverable.

Please let's ALL tell him how pleased we all are about this and how much we appreciate the Forum.

I was going to chuck it all in, if Dave couldn't recover the data I would have just left it and there was no way I would start all over just incase it happened again!

I am really happy it is back though, thought it was the end of the forum and wasn't expecting to be posting here again.

Believe me, I backup twice a day now!

But the problem was I couldn't do backups because of a database error that we have had since we moved servers, but now for some reason everything is fine again, in a way this hacker has sorted out the problems!
